From 18th till 30th March 2011, Fringe Club at Hong Kong, presents the new collection of mixed media artworks by Claire Lee. The artist, a true fan of Andrei Tarkovsky, uses uniquely the element of "controlled" nature which is a characteristic of Andrei Tarkovsky’s films.

Lee mentions that "I am connected to his unique powerful visual tapestry and imagery to form and aesthetics. In my art, by employing each of the objects I picked from nature, nature is a comfort zone, as a respite for the barren landscape I awaken to. Each of the natural elements (water, stones, broken objects, leaves...) have their own sustained rhythm. I want to use these natural rhythms and cross over with the animal illustrations to express my own, that of my characters and psychoanalytical paradox of a calm and chaotic mind".

an continues “I went to seashores in HK to collect all kinds of trash and put them in my artworks. I am attracted to the details and textures of the damaged, abandoned, broken or old objects. Strength and beauty always manifest itself greatly through silence and imperfection. My trash collecting process is like meditation - conversation with myself and nature. But also there is a storm, a revolution within me when I see bravery, beauty and strength through the fragile objects that I found.

The opening reception of the exhibition is on March 19th, Saturday at 6:30pm.
