Focus on Kostis Emmanouilidis
On the occasion of "PHOTOMETRY" Photography Festival that takes place at Ioannina from the 22nd till the 30th May 2010 I would like to dedicate a few lines for a charismatic person that composes the three-member committee of the Competitive part of the Festival.
His name is Kostis Emmanouilidis, born in Ioannina with studies in the School of Mechanical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. Kostis, from his early university years showed his artistic concerns and need to unfold his creativity far from forms and the Establishment. Thus, he accomplished this through his pass from various stages of artistic expression as the sculpture, the painting, the composition of music and finally where he gives much attention lately, the photography. Aiming mainly at the fashion photography, the lens of Emmanouilidis accomplishes something unique. It shows with the most evident way the clothes and the faces under a clear light. Additionally, Emmanouilidis experiments with various concepts without forgetting the unique natural landscape and beauty of Epirus (Northwestern Greece). It collaborated with a lot of local magazines but also with hair stylists for the creation of astonishing calendars.
To sum up, it is certain that Kostis Emmanouilidis is a person with intense interest for the Arts and this is a good reason to try with other new artists to remove Ioannina from the artistic stagnation. Therefore movements as that of organising the PHOTOMETRIA Ioannina Photography Festival in which Kostis participates as one of the three members of the Committee, show the cultural dynamic of our region.
