Graffiti/ Street Art exhibition at Thessaloniki
Tomorrow (10/06/2010) at 19.00 and the day after (11/06/2010) at 19.00 is the opening of the Graffiti / Street Art exhibition that takes place in the Lola Nikolaou Art Gallery and the Kalos & Klio Showroom in the city of Thessaloniki.
Lola Nikolaou Art Gallery and Kalos&Klio Showroom attempt to approach street art focusing mainly in the city artists who work many years in the public space. The interest is focused in all forms and expressions beginning from ”traditional” graffiti, appeared in the early 90s, up to the interventions with stickers and posters in the city, as well as versions of digital art influenced from the aesthetics of street art.
The street artists function with intention to "hostile" public space, or to impose their personal seal in the impersonal urban landscape via graffiti, or trying to pass their own sociopolitical messages through the stickers, stencils and posters moved in juxtaposition with the world of publicity. The artists expose their work in the two spaces seeking to maintain their identity.
