The Armory Show 2011 opened today the doors of its twin piers - one for modern art, one for contemporary - with 274 exhibitors spread over them. The Armory Show is America's leading fine art fair devoted to the most important art of the 20th and 21st centuries and draws the attention of galleries, artists, collectors, critics and curators from across the globe.
The Armory Show – Modern features a selection of renowned galleries specializing in Modern and secondary market material on Pier 92, while The Armory Show – Contemporary on Pier 94 continues to be a venue to premiere new works by living artists. In celebration of the city’s unparalleled artistic communities, Armory Arts Week highlights a neighborhood or borough’s arts scene each night with events that include special receptions, open studios, art tours, museum discounts, performances, panels, artist discussions and parties.
