"Photometria 2011", Ioannina Photo Festival

Photometria will take place this year in the city of Ioannina (Greece) from 19th until 29th May 2011 and from 2nd until 12th June 2011 in Athens at the Art Foundation [taf]. With the maturity gained, all these years that "Photometria" takes place, the organisers (Entefksis and Free Press "Lift") have enriched the festival with more events than any other year such as short film screenings, video art installations, photography exhibitions and seminars as well as the "Street Life" Panhellenic photography competition.

The aim of "Photometria" is firstly to become the photography event where the expression and creativity can be captured through the photographic lens. Secondly, to be the mean of presenting contemporary photography artists, young Greek and foreign photographers and finally to attract cultural organisations and festivals in order to establish various project collaborations.

For your participation in the "Street Life" competition visit the following link. The deadline is on May 8th 2011.

On 19th May 2011 the jury consisting of Yannis Dimou, Andre Bakker, Kostis Emmanouilidis, Fondas Bitsikas and Dimitris Mellos will decide the 20 best photography participations. The public will be able to vote for the three best photos from 19th May and for nine days (also via the official website). The four award winners will be announced on 29th May 2011.

As we read the programme we highly recommend to visit the Yannis Kontos exhibition “A-pories” & “North Korea: Red Utopia” in the Ioannina Municipality Art Gallery, the Niels Van Iperen exhibition at the Technohoros Art Gallery as well as the presentation of the Certificate No. 000358/, a project by Robert Knoth that deals with nuclear accidents and testing in four locations of the former Soviet Union.
