The Power of SELF
With the moto Show Yourself / Change Your Life and a one day deadline "The Power of Self" is a yearly competition hosted by Artists Wanted. As we read in their webpages "To show yourself, to tell your story is the truest and bravest art imaginable". The self-portrait has been a powerful and studied medium since we first saw our reflection. From Vincent van Gogh to Diane Arbus, the self has been the subject of most all the art worldʼs greats. The self-portrait transcends medium, style and period, existing in the vast space between fantasy and reality.
The Power of Self is a world-wide celebration of self-portraiture awarding over $50,000 in grants and awards and accepting works in all mediums, including Painting, Sculpture, Installation, Performance, Photography, Design, Illustration and Video.
