The Michael Kohlhaas Curtain is the result of a collaboration between world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava and painter Frank Stella in order to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Heinrich von Kleist's death. The project is held at the New National Gallery in Berlin from Thursday 14 April 2011 and will remain on public display until Sunday 14 August 2011.

This is the first time that the two have joined forces to work on something that unites painting and sculpture and to be more specific one of Stella's monumental paintings, transformed into a 98 ft mural, surrounded by a suspended steel sculpture designed by Calatrava. The Michael Kohlhaas Curtain, dedicated to the author's novel Michael Kohlhaas, reflects their shared belief that there are no barriers between different artistic disciplines.
