George Lanaras at Titanium Yiayiannos Gallery

The painting of George Lanaras balances between the sanctity of representation and the horror of grotesque. We have a load of symbols, a number of heterogeneous forms that interact with each other in the traditional three-dimensional space. The cries of all beings seem even louder because of the synthetic resins and duco oil paints he uses, so that laughter becomes sob or scream.

The painting of Lanaras, as established in the last decade, is defined as "conceptual expressionism" or more analytically as "the terms of human tragedy expressed as a comedy."

Titanium Yiayiannos Gallery (44, Vas. Konstantinou Avenue, 116 35 Athens) hosts from April 2nd till April 21st 2012 a retrospective exhibition of Lanaras' artworks. Opening Hours: Tuesday - Friday 18:00-22:00, Saturday - Sunday 11:00-15:00
