"Suspended Forces", Anna Lascari
a.antonopoulou.art presents Anna Lascari's latest work from March 6th 2013 running through April 6th 2013. "Suspended Forces" is a work for the modern crowd, its ambivalence and its existence.
The swarm of attacking birds refers in the disparate metropolis crowd, a theme that has occupied Laskari in 2010 in her 3D audiovisual installation "Swarm". The swarm that then was presented organised and threatening, ready to attack, now in her new big black/white drawing resembles unverifiable and self-destructive. The swarm is characterised by an internal conflict and distress. In Suspended Forces, the swarm appears to have passed in our private space and disrupts the limits of private and public, individual and collective, "in" and "out".
Suspended Forces is a statement for modern Athens and her residents, for a metropolis confronted with the recession as well as her future. It has to do with the pathology of crowd that fights to constitute an organised swarm attempting to slip from the dead-end.
