Studiocharlie at Salone del Mobile 2013
In the Minotti stand (Pavillion 7 E21-F26) at the Salone del Mobile 2013 (Fiera Milano, Rho) Studiocharlie presents "Calmo" and "Corallo" vases. Two exquisite pieces that certainly caught our attention.

Five differently proportioned elements share a single shape which can be assembled in a variety of combinations forming the "Corallo" vase that echoes the complexity of coral. The largest element is a basis for the smaller parts to aggregate, each one becoming a container. The "Corallo" vase can be placed in different positions so as to vary its look and use. It is handmade in bright red ceramic by the artist Adriana Albertini. Dimensions: 25 x 30 x 35 cm
The project is part of a wider reflexion developed by Studiocharlie over the last few years. This research seeks to uncover the geometry of nature, the generation of complex natural forms from the aggregation of essential geometric elements. The vase echoes coral formations. From the workshop to the ocean floors. The project is a step to discover the meaning of using nature as an inspiration for product design, by experimenting with the representation of a synthesis between artificial and natural. The choice of ceramic for the production of the vase is a symbol of this reflexion. It softens the geometry and renders explicit the dialogue between what is defined as natural and what is a product of human intervention.

The "Calmo" vase seems to be of those mysterious objects that are found on the beach in the morning, brought in by the tide, of unknown origin. The forms are simplified, polished by their long journey, the sun and the salt water. Only traces remain of their original characteristics. These are fascinating and evocative objects, that cause unexpected emotions when we encounter them. The "Calmo" vase has a simple geometry, like the elementary geometries of nature. It lies on its side, a mysteriously archetypal object. It is made of laser cut stainless steel. Dimensions: 45 × 45 cm, height 30 cm.
