Collar Lamp for GUBI
IMM Cologne 2015 starts today and for a whole week (19 - 25 January 2015) the city of Cologne will be the epicentre of the international furnishing and design world. One of the exhibitors is GUBI and among the products presented in its stand (Hall 3.2 / E - 020) we found the organic Collar Lamp by Sebastian Herkner.
Collar Lamp is the German designer Sebastian Herkner’s first product for GUBI. Collar Lamp is a series of pendant lights that combine hand-blown glass and an aluminium “collar”, used as a reflector, which gives it an iconic strong character. The lamp looks great as an individual lamp but by mixing colours and sizes it gives possibilities for strong personal and playful installations.
The Collar Lamp comes in two sizes and is available in five different colours: black, grey, taube, terracotta and sand.

SEBASTIAN HERKNER
Sebastian Herkner was born in 1981 in Bad Mergentheim. He studied product design at the HfG Offenbach am Main (Offenbach University of Art and Design). While already focusing on designing objects and furniture by merging various cultural contexts, Herkner combined new technologies with traditional craftsmanship. This was in order to highlight the multifaceted beauty of the materials and draw renewed attention to small details. Whilst still a student, Herkner did an internship with Stella McCartney in London, which helped to hone his feeling for materials, colours, structures and textures. Since founding his own design studio in Offenbach am Main in 2006, he has designed products for manufacturers such as GUBI, Moroso, ClassiCon, Rosenthal, Very Wood and Pulpo, as well as working on interior design projects and for exhibitions and museums.
