Hommage à Galérie ARTIO

From today 24th January till the 12th March 2011, Kappatos Gallery hosts the exhibition "Hommage à Galérie ARTIO". It 's a tribute to Modern Art Gallery ARTIO, one of the most historic art galleries in the city of Athens, and its owner Martine Chardon the soul and a true leader of modern art for the past three decades. The participating artists created, participated and determined the luck of ARTIO during their early steps.
In the difficult, for the modern art in Greece, decades of 80s and 90s, a gallery, opposed to the current that other art spaces selected, tried to present and support a number of new artists that constituted an alternative proposal at that time. Chardon gave little concern to the commercial and economic repercussions of her choices because she believed in the artistic and intellectual value of the young artists who set the new bases for the further development of Arts in Greece.
