"Theodoros Papagiannis" Museum of Contemporary Art hosts from the August 20th until September 17th 2011 the 2nd Sculpture Symposium at the village of Elliniko. The sculptors invited this year are Christos Riganas, Christos Lazarakis, Vassilis Vassili, Kostas Dikefalos, Dimitris Christogiannis, Spyros Lisgaras and Francesco Moretti. During the Symposium the participants will create artworks from marble, stone and metal in the premises of the Museum where visitors will have the opportunity to see the making procedure of the works and to talk to the artists. The sculptures will be part of the Museum's collection and some of them will be placed in the pathway that leads to the Tsouka Monastery.
With the end of the Symposium (September 17th and 18th 2011) a two-day cultural event will take place in the village of Elliniko. The aim of this event is firstly, to record the cultural life of the village in time-pass (religious life, schools and school-teachers, benefactors and philanthropists, immigration, libraries, publications etc.) and finally to commemorate the people from Elliniko who took part in the National Resistance.
