Tomorrow (September 24th 2011) at 18.00 will take place at Plato's Academy (Athens, Greece) an event with the title «IN VINO VERITAS». The event aims to reveal the relationship among company, speech, diet, dance and body. In particular the region of Plato's Academy, combines the multiculturalist environment with the "foreigners" (residents of region) and Dionysus, a deity that resembles the “foreigner” (=diversity) in each citizen, the intoxication, the “wild” or “not civilized”. The structure of the event was made using two basic elements of the ancient drama, collective and anonymous dance is achieved with the vintagers and the poetic recitation.

The event consists of three faces:

  1. Installation/Theatre. In the archaeological site of Plato's Academy a "theatre-grape vintage area" is created. On the floor of the main area a large grape presser will be placed (orchestra) and in front of it ninety bundles of wheat in parallel orders playing the role of viewer seats "koilon". Finally, the event speakers "hypocrits" will be seated in the pondium, in front of various ancient fallen columns "the scene". The whole installation refers to an ancient Greek theatre.

  2. Actions/ The wine making will start with the grapes being placed in the presser. The action/drama is divided into three parts: a) grape pressing with the participation of the viewers b) the moustalevria (= wine and flour) cake making. At the same time a speech articulation game will take place for 20-25 minutes about the wine and its intoxication. The participants will use poems and texts from famous authors and poets such as Homer, Dioskouridis, Karl Marx, Pier-Paolo Pasolini, Johann Christian Friedrich Hölderlin, Misel Ser etc. c) The distribution of moustalevria to all viewers.

  3. Monument/ At the end of the event the bundles of wheat will form some kind of monument tower dedicated to Plato. The tower will transmit acoustic parts of the event.
