Tabula Rasa at galleria Otto Luogo dell' arte
Florence-based, Galleria Otto Luogo dell' arte, one of Italy's emerging and promising contemporary art galleries hosts from 26th September until 30th November 2012, "Tabula Rasa". A work in progress project which begins with a few objects and gradually, at various times, fills with works by the invited artists, with various meeting-times for when new pieces are presented.
Tabula Rasa in ancient years was a small wax tablet that could be erased in order to be written on again. Otto in this occasion uses table which is referred as a meeting-point, a place for exchanges between people, and often represented as an element rich with ornaments, refinements, work and decorations which distinguish it and make whatever happens upon it or around it unique and precious. The table starts out cleared, empty, to be set with new ideas; not only for the table, but also for the life conducted around it.
As we read in gallery's press release "in this project, with these artists, designers and artisans with which we work, would like to propose a variety of interpretations of the table and the objects above and below it. In this period of history, we think it is up to those who plan projects and create objects which surround us in our everyday lives to reflect on their identity and meaning, face-to-face with the changeable themes of everyday life."
Artists invited to participate in tabula rasa: Mauro Lovi – Tables // Nicola Perilli – objects and table furnishings // Michele Martinelli – Table // Christophe Quarena – Table // Elia Marzetta – Table // Livio Tessandori – Tablecloth // Stefano Breschi – Objects for the table // Elisabetta Nencini – Table // Antonio Lo presti – Table // Danilo Trogu – Objectsfor the table // Kitta Martini – Objects for the table // RossoRamina ( federica and stefano) – Objects for the table // Benvenuto Saba – Stone throne // Vercelli-Giovannini-Bianchi – Chargers and place indicators // Adam Marelli – Art object // Matthew Licht – Menù and recipes
