Reclaiming the Past, Regaining the Real festival
The wide range and new tendencies in contemporary music and visual arts will be in discourse with new media and technological applications in the arts, in a festival which will attempt to explore the meeting point of musical and visual arts with science and theory.
The Reclaiming the Past, Regaining the Real festival //beta version is the new contemporary music and visual arts festival which will take place for the first time at the ABOUT: Cultural Venue from the 22nd of September until the 14th of October 2012.
260 works by musicians and visual artists will be presented in concerts, screenings, and the group show of the festival. Presentations and educational programs have also been organized. Works produced during the festival, projects or concerts will be later presented in other venues in Greece and other European countries.
The festival is a co-organized by the ABOUT: Cultural Venue, the Counting Art, the Camerata Europaea (Berlin) orchestra and the Camerata Europaea Youth (Innsbruck) orchestra.
The State Museum of Contemporary Art and the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association / International Confederation (ΕΣΣΗΜ & ICEM) of Electroacoustic Music are also participating with productions and programs.

- 100 works from the international contemporary music repertoire are presented live by 35 interpreters
- 50 works of electroacoustic, tape music and live electronics,
- Video art
- Animacall, the animation project 2011. A screening including 80 animation videos, shown in alphabetical order, which are produced by the Thessaloniki Center of Contemporary Art of the State Museum of Contemporary Art and was first presented in 2011. The core program of the project emerged following an open call for participation addressing Greek and foreign animators worldwide in order to mark a tribute to the art of animation, organized by the Contemporary Art Center Thessaloniki (30 March - 5 June 2011). It was intended to highlight the most recent developments, the planes of application and the expressive richness of the art of animation on an international level. Syrago Tsiara, the director at the SMCA and Domna Gounari, curator at the SMCA have curated the Animacall, the animation project 2011.
