"JARI", Jihoon Ha's installation

Korean designer Jihoon Ha's installation at the second edition of Design Days Dubai takes inspiration from undulating form of the desert. A sculpture of organic form, the JARI (meaning 'place') installation with its modular, repetitive unit works brilliantly as a seat; its form giving the viewer the feeling of sitting in a ridgeline of the desert. The Scottish leather used in JARI provides not only the feeling of luxury, but also, the promise of the highest quality and comfort. Through JARI, the observer will experience the artist’s attempt to cross the boundary between art and design, bringing art closer to everyday life. Several identical pieces will come together to create an interactive atmosphere, enabling more people to experience this unique place to sit and contemplate.

Jihoon Ha, was born in Seoul (Korea). He made studies in wood working & furniture in the Hong-ik University and Denmark Design School. In 2009 he was awarded at 'Artist of the Year (Design)' by the Korean Ministry of culture. He is Professor in Kaywon School of Art & Design. Ha, integrates design concepts of Scandinavia and the Orient with a profound understanding of art and design. The Seoul-based Korean gallery _Croft Gallery brings the JARI installation to Design Days Dubai, remarkably exemplifying the designers' ethos.
