Last day of ART-ATHINA 2013

As we run the final day and hours of the 18th edition of ART-ATHINA 2013 we thought that we should refer to some of the worth-while visiting points and performances we did not manage to refer in our previous posts covering this important contemporary art event taking place in Athens (Greece). At the Platform Project@ArtAthina our correspondents mentioned the "Binary Art Group" consisting by Maria Papacharalambous and Achilleas Kentonis (stand P14), the project State of Mind by Lo and Behold (stand P18) with participating artists like Costas Christopoulos, Michael Croft, Jack Early, Vasso Gavaisse, Joel Hurlburt, Simon Larbalestier, Julia Marsh, Nina Papaconstantinou, Yannis Papadopoulos, Antonis Pittas, Provo Principles, Jinsik Shin, Marja-Leena Sillanpää, Johan Svensson and Vassilis Zografos.

PROVO PRINCIPLES group (booth P6) presents at the Platform Project@ArtAthina the PERSONA NON GRATA exhibition. The participating artists (Andreas Boussouras, Dimitris Merantzas, Alice Pappa, Constantinos Patsios, Nikos Sepetzoglou, Yorgos Tserionis) use a common anthropometric dimension for their work (220X55 cm.) that include a human form and her environment space. The artworks are set up perimetrically in the booth space, supported in the floor and the wall, creating a united and architectural structured installation. The core of this exhibition is the meaning of persona non grata and aims to activate an inner dialogue to the visitor.

The EN FLO group (a group of visual artists and lecturers of the Department of Visual and Applied Arts in Florina, from the University of Western Macedonia) this year presents the SISYphṓs action (stand P35) borrowing the title from the mythical narrative of the Sisyphean effort. This theme, highly up to date with our times, motivates team EN FLO to ponder and raise questions concerning today’s human condition, by using all the tools its members possess as they attempt to converse with the community of art.

Christina's Androulidaki CAN gallery (stand D7) participates with the artists Zoe Gaitanidou, Stelios Karamanolis, Toula Ploumi, George Stamkopoulos and Pavlos Tsakonas. Thessaloniki-based LOLA NIKOLAOU ART gallery (stand H3), one of the first contemporary art galleries in the city of Thessaloniki participates with artworks from the artists Marios Eleftheriadis, Dimitris Condos, Maria Kompatsiari, Harris Kondosphyris, Christina Mitrentse, Wolfgang Stiller and Zafos Xagoraris.
