Fabergé Oeuf Cadeau
Following the news of the Fabergé's twin hit in the UK with it's store at 14A Grafton Street in Mayfair and at Harrods in Knightsbridge now we have the launch of a limited edition collection for Valentine's Day. With its rich heritage inextricably linked with some of the world’s greatest love stories, Fabergé perfects the art of giving with its legendary master jeweller, giving exquisite pieces of art and craftmanship.
During the era of the Imperial Russian Court, Fabergé eggs were gifted as tokens of affection and love. Perhaps the most fascinating story is that of the Tsar, Alexander III, who, in 1885, commissioned Fabergé to create a bejewelled egg for his wife, the Empress Marie Fedorovna. The egg signified his enduring love and commitment to her and, as such, hid a secret ruby pendant inside the egg.
Today, Les Favorites de Fabergé, a collection of precious fine jewellery egg pendants continues this legacy. For Valentine’s Day Fabergé introduces the Oeuf Cadeau, a polished 18 ct rose gold egg, tied with an exuberant ribbon of diamonds and fastened with a bow, as well as a limited edition of keepsake pendants in white, yellow and rose gold with three endearing engraved messages: ‘I love you’, ‘Je t’aime’ and ‘Ti amo’.
All Fabergé collections are available through the Fabergé transactional website or in stores in London, Geneva and Hong Kong. A gift of a jeweled miniature egg pendant from the House of Fabergé was one of the most treasured objects of desire in turn of the century Russia, a prized present for Easter, birthdays or name days.
This piece (see image above) is set in 18 carat rose gold and features white round diamonds. The egg pendant is 22mm in height.
