vamiali's Happy Breaks
vamiali's gallery presents on Thursday 24th May the 5th edition of Happy Breaks. Happy Breaks constitute a series of parallel events where designers, artists, authors and creators present ideas, applied art works, publications and jewelry. The aim of those events is to identify the different aspects of applied arts as natural development of creation and to stress their coexistence and inspiration with and by modern art. The participating artists, designers, authors are: A-C studio, Sophia Vamiali, Yannis Gkikas, Spyros Drakos, Ghislaine Dantan and Emmanuelle Mafille. Marianna Hatzinikolaou will present her latest book for youngsters.
For Happy Break #5, a large scale installation will cover the first floor of the gallery. The installation consists of different materials, an environment with references in architecture and traces of previously organised exhibitions of the gallery. It will be the main presentation platform of the participants' artworks.
A-C studio have created a new series of ceramics for everyday use.
For her jewellery creations, Ghislaine Dantan collects metalic and semi-precious vintage elements from antique shops and open flee markets in Greece and foreign countries. Illustrator, Emmanuelle Mafille, has created a series of sketches based in Dantan's jewelry for a catalogue/ brochure that will be published in limited edition.
Sophia Vamiali in her latest collection of jewelry, presents colorful pieces, chains and hand-made elements that combine Bauhaus and Central-Latin American motifs. Yannis Gkikas participates with “Out of sight”. A platinum-plated silver ring for men with the decorative motif found in the internal side. Spyros Drakos has created a new series of hand-made lightings and lacquer jewelry boxes in white, yellow and blue colours.
Marianna Hatzinikolaou presents the francophone book "Io and her nice outfit". The author is inspired by Ancient Greece, mainly Minoan period, where Io is met with the flora, the fauna and the mythology. Each page and another costume!
